The goal is to develop physically-based illumination techniques in order to provide visualization tools for analysis and design in generic architectural environments. Application of these tools may include lighting assessment as well as improvements in constructive projects design through the study and optimization of energy parameters and visual comfort.
Light transmission devices design
Daylighting systems are frequently used for shading control or the redirection of light with the purpose of providing sufficient amounts of light where it is needed, while at the same time ensuring good visual performance. Some system elements, like light ducts or mirror heliostats, where light is distributed through several reflections, may have complex configuration, which makes them difficult for visual prediction and analysis. The goal here is to develope efficient simulation techniques for such kind of systems in order to provide helpfull tools for design and analysis.
